Hello, I just really got involved and have been on the board for a week or so and have been wanting to join. I want to start a clone commander or commando. If anyone meets me in real life I'm 6'2 260 so I'm kind of a big guy. Buying has me kind of weary. It won't fit right, doesn't look right on me, ect ect. I'm little handy and I wanna try as much as I can onto own and modify the rest. I have interacted with some wonderful, kind, and out reaching people on here and all I can say is thank you. I have a young family and work all the time. So I told myself this is my treat, this is my activity my time and the response you have all given me is great and kind so thank you. I really want wait to meet people at an event to thank them in person. I want to do a commander or a commando. I thought a commando cause of my size. Let me know what everyone thinks!

Oh yeah! Either one would be great. I love Commander Wolffe - I've wanted to convince other members that we could do a whole Wolfpack squad. Each member has unique markings and would make for interesting troops!

A commando would be a new one for our garrison as well. They look really cool and you can tweak the design a bit to make it your own. With your size it would be most impressive.

I fully support either choice! :)

Either would be awesome. I agree that the on-screen commando is naturally stockier than the regular clone. But we've got all types, and all are welcome!

Have you checked Clonetroopers.net? I would think most clone builders would be on there. Wulwhite has an "Imperial Commando" bucket listed: http://forum.clonetroopers.net/index.ph ... opic=18695

What do you need to know about the commando?

The commando armor is different from it looks like the waist up te helmet being the biggest difference along with the blaster being different. Anyone know who cast raw commado helmets? I've found a few but usually completed and out of my budget. Seems like they're radically different than a clone trooper. I want to get it right!

Also do I need to build off of a canon, go pure white, go off the game? Or can use my personality into the armor?

You can check out the list of currently approved commandos here:

http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming ... c_Commando

There's a pretty detailed video build thread here:

http://forum.clonetroopers.net/index.ph ... ntry159452

I see you've already found a helmet source on CloneTroopers.net - good work! The best advice I have is to keep perusing the forums and specifically the build threads. Often they will list the armor makers and you can pick up some good tips. Feel free to PM the members to ask specific questions about where you can get the various parts. Most people will be glad to help.

As far as acceptance criteria, our GML Josh "Dirty Tusken" will have the final say on what is acceptable. You should make sure to run your ideas past him before you commit to a paint scheme or any non-canon modifications.

Unfortunately the only commando paint schemes that I can approve right now are white/dirty (grunt), black (omega squad), and delta squad (boss, fixer, sev, scorch). There are a ton of other squads talked about in the books but no drawings or pics for us to go off of. So no custom paint schemes can be officially approved. The armor is different top to bottom from a basic clone. I almost built one of these a few years ago and did a crap ton of research on them. Lol I currently have a friend that's about half way through a build right now and I happen to have his DC-17 in my possession right now if you would like some pics of it. Let me know what you need.

I saw that doing more research I think a general grunt white/weathering will be what I go with I found a helmet builder within my budget and will make sure it's my size ( 7 7/8) so that's really important to me. I have been doing more research into the build. The back number does it have to be specific or can igo off my own? Also would love the pictures!

If you do a white grunt it can be any 2 #'s.

well been a few weeks since I've posted I got my bucket in the mail....and change some of my ideas I figure I'm doing a 41st elite with the Coruscant paint scheme. I'm still working on the other parts as of right now.

Hope everyone is well
